The Train to Gain service is a business service offering fully funded NVQ qualifications designed to help your business stay competitive and to succeed. It aims to do this through the training and development of your workforce, helping to ensure that your employees have the right skills and knowledge to do the best job.
Train to Gain is a fantastic opportunity for employees to achieve their full potential and gain job-related skills. It is also an opportunity for your business to gain long-term investment through the development of a skilled workforce at NO extra cost.
Train to Gain funding is available to first NVQ Level 2 qualifications and some NVQ Level 3 qualifications, where the individual is eligible.
For employees who don’t already have a full Level 2 qualification, full funding is available to employees. There is also funding available for a number of number of additional Level 2 qualifications.
For employees with a Level 2 qualification, who would like to progress to Level 3 qualification, funding may be available (subject to tutor approval) if you are aged 19 to 25.
For employees who do not have a Level 2 qualification but have the skills to progress straight on to a Level 3 qualification, funding is available (in certain subject areas) if you are aged 19 to 25.
A new offer for organisations in the private sector with 5 to 250 employees, grant support of up to £1000 may be available to develop leadership and management skills within the organisation.
Under the Train to Gain service, Employers with fewer than 50 full time or equivalent employees may be eligible for a contribution towards the wage costs of employees taking part in training. Please ask for further details.

If you have no previous Level 2 qualification and yet are working at a level 3 standard in your job, you may be able to achieve a Level 3 qualification though Train to Gain.
- Three-quarters of employers taking up training under Train to Gain (74 per cent) report that they have noticed an improvement in the skills of employees in relation to their specific job role.
- Two-fifths of employers (42 per cent) said that the training they have engaged with through Train to Gain has had a beneficial impact on the bottom-line or profitability of their business.
- Eight employers in ten (80 per cent) would recommend the Train to Gain service to a business colleague outside their organisation.
