UCCE Equality and Diversity level 4

An award of the University of Teesside delivered in partnership with Stockton Riverside College.

This module introduces learners to equality and diversity issues in the workplace and enables participants to demonstrate understanding of the issues in relation to their own organisation and identify how this might impact on practice. It is designed to build confidence in this area and gives an opportunity for those already familiar with equality and diversity to gain a university qualification

Entry requirements:

Participants need to be employed on a paid or voluntary basis, to enable links to be made between theory and own practice. Level 2 (or equivalent) in literacy skills is also required.A diagnostic test for literacy will be available if no formal qualifications are held. Additional learning support will be available for literacy if required.

3 hour class x 10 weeks

Modules Covered:

The module aims to explore the theoretical and practical aspects of equality and diversity including:

  • Legislation
  • Policies and planning for inclusion
  • Monitoring and evaluating impact measures
  • Promoting equality
  • Recognising and sharing good practice
  • Evaluating sources of evidence
  • Reflecting on own practice

Formative Assessment:

Reflection on legislative and practical issues in seminar groups through oral feedback.

Summative Assessment:

1500 word report

Qualification:

University Certificate of Continuing Education (UCCE) Equality and Diversity

Progression Route:

The module can contribute 10 credits towards certain higher qualifications
