NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Travel and Tourism Management

The NCFE Level 3 Certificate in Travel and Tourism Management is an ideal qualification for anyone who wants to pursue a management career in travel and tourism. It is also ideal for learners who wish to progress to study management at higher levels, including a range of foundation degrees. It will also prepare learners for management posts with a variety of different employers in the industry.

Aims and Objectives
The qualification aims to:

  • develop subject-specific and transferable skills in travel management
  • meet some of the present and future needs of employees and employers in the travel and tourism industry
  • enable progression to degree study or to take up employment opportunities in the travel and tourism industry

The objectives of the qualification are to help learners to:

  • develop an appropriate level of knowledge and skills in the theory and application of travel and
    tourism management practice
  • develop proficiency in a range of transferable skills appropriate to travel and tourism in the 21st century
  • investigate the cultural and social context of the travel and tourism industry and society in general
  • develop a sound understanding of operational management techniques currently practised in industry
  • develop sound self-management, good co-operative and communication skills, problem-solving and decision-making ability, numeracy and confidence with technology

Entry Requirements:
Although there are no specific recommended prior learning requirements, learners wishing to undertake this qualification should hold an appropriate Level 2 qualification in English. The minimum age of entry for this qualification is 16.

Guided learning hours (GLH):
180 (36 weeks)

NQF Level: 3

Assessment requirements:
Independently assessed and externally moderated portfolio

The qualification consists of 6 mandatory units:

  • Unit 01 Travel and tourism legislation
  • Unit 02 Travel sales promotion
  • Unit 03 Contemporary issues in the travel and tourism industry
  • Unit 04 Leading and supervising in travel and tourism
  • Unit 05 Service quality and customer service in travel and tourism
  • Unit 06 Business skills for the travel and tourism industry

36 weeks
