The NCFE Level 2 Certificate for Airline Cabin Crew prepares learners for entry to airline industry training. It is not intended as a replacement to the training given by airlines upon the recruitment of new cabin crew staff. The qualification provides the basic background skills, knowledge and understanding required to work effectively as a member of cabin crew. It is ideal for those seeking employment or for those wishing to enhance their studies in Travel and Tourism. The qualification provides a realistic description of the work carried out by airline cabin crew, thus dispelling the unrealistic ‘glamorous’ impression which airlines find many potential recruits display at interviews.
The qualification has been endorsed by bmi and Thomas Cook Airlines. bmi and Thomas Cook Airlines have indicated that the qualification meets their needs for well-trained staff and have further indicated the value of the qualification to the sector by guaranteeing an interview for those students who successfully complete the qualification and meet their minimum criteria. NCFE also has the support of GoSkills, the developing sector skills council for the UK passenger transport industry, for this qualification.
