BIIAB National Certificate for Door Supervisors Level 2

The Level 2 NCDS is designed for those who wish to work in the industry; and is awarded to those who pass two examinations covering the basic knowledge and responsibilities of the occupation. This nationally recognised qualification is the industry standard and enables a door supervisor to apply for a licence to practice.

To qualify for an SIA licence you will need to satisfy three requirements:

  1. Pass an identity check
  2. Pass a criminal records check
  3. Possess a recognised door supervisor qualification.

Guided learning hours (GLH):
30 (3 weeks)

NQF Level: 2

Assessment requirements:
Externally set and assessed multiple choice test

The qualification consists of two mandatory units:
• Unit 1 - Roles and Responsibilities of Door Supervisors - Including how to comply with the law, admission policies and procedures, refusing entry, searching, seizing articles, eviction, use of force, how to deal with emergencies, drugs, arrest, scene preservation and report writing.
• Unit 2 - Conflict Management for Door Supervisors - Takes candidates through managing conflict by applying dynamic risk assessment approaches, understanding the importance of self-awareness and acting proactively; how to resolve and learn from conflict.

Entry Requirements:
Learners must have a level 1 English qualification. You must also have 1 or more of the following:

  • Full or provisional UK licence (both parts)
  • Valid passport
  • HM forces ID card
  • Original UK birth certificate
  • UK adoption certificate
  • Valid UK firearms licence
Other security checks will take place before enrolment is allowed

3 weeks

Monday-Thursday 6.00pm – 9.00pm

If a learner is over 19, and not in receipt of certain benefits (see Fees and Funding) then a fee may be payable. If a learner has not been resident in the EU for the 3 years prior to the commencement of their course, then a fee may be payable.
