The UCAPD in Supporting Individuals with Learning Difficulties and/or Disabilities seeks to address the needs of support assistants who wish to develop their professional insights and competencies. It sets out to enhance the ability of students to become more self-reflective and more able to develop their own practice.
The programme will serve the professional development needs of the students by:
Applicants will have evidence of achievement at level 3. Applicants will also need to demonstrate that they possess an equivalent of GCSE Mathematics and English (grade C or above).
Professional requirements would relate to the role of Teaching/Healthcare Assistant or comparable position. The nature of the programme requires substantial and ongoing experience of Teaching/ Healthcare Assistant or comparable position.
Voluntary workers would need to demonstrate that they were undertaking work equivalent to that of a support assistant. Persons applying to join the programme would need to demonstrate that they have the support of their practice environment.
12 months part-time with a flexible delivery pattern September – June
