A National Vocational Qualification for professionals working at a senior level in face-to-face roles with children, young people and families. The level 4 CCLD confirms the complexity of the senior practitioner role and the skills that are needed to work with children and families. The level 4 CCLD is made up of 9 units, 4 mandatory units and 5 optional units.
Learners will build a portfolio of evidence and be allocated a course tutor or assessor.
It is expected that candidates will be people already working in settings or services, or recent entrants to the sector, whose main purpose is children’s care, learning and development with children aged between 0-16 and their families. Some examples are: Childminding network coordinator, Pre-school advisor, Centre manager, Area SENCO, Senior practitioner involving high level skills with children and families.

Candidates can progress onto the higher level study programmes or 20/30 credit modules to extend their professional development.

If a learner is over 19, and not in receipt of certain benefits (see Fees and Funding) then a fee may be payable. If a learner has not been resident in the EU for the 3 years prior to the commencement of their course, then a fee may be payable.
