Unit 2 - Business Documents for Medical Secretarial Practice including electronic communication, letters, memoranda, meetings documentation & procedures etc
Unit 4 - Medical and Social Aspects of Secretarial Work – provides knowledge of the medical aspects of the work of a receptionist e.g. medical terminology, ethics & etiquette, drugs and prescription writing.
Unit 5 – Medical Secretarial work experience – externally set assignment based on candidate’s work experience.
Unit 1 - Administrative and Legal Aspects – covers the different functions of health services and the relevant legislation
Unit 3 - Medical Office Practice – covers background to medical secretarial work within a hospital and a general practice including organising and planning work, keeping and retrieval of records etc
It is essential that students are in employment or work placement which is relevant to the requirements of the course and also that students have already gained the intermediate certificate.
Level 3
A minimum of 4 GCSE passes at Grade C or above (to include English) or an AMSPAR Intermediate Diploma in Medical Reception
AMSPAR Advanced Diploma for Medical Secretaries
AMSPAR Diploma in Primary Care Level 4
AMSPAR qualifications are recognised throughout the National Health Service and are often a prerequisite for an appointment as a medical administrator or secretary.
