Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time. Apprentices work towards a work-based qualification such as an NVQ and other nationally recognised qualifications. As employees, Apprentices work alongside experienced staff to gain job-specific skills. Off the job, usually on day release, Apprentices receive training in their specialist area at college.
Apprentices must be employed to complete an Apprenticeship and there is no upper age limit.
Apprenticeships can make your organisation more effective, competent, productive and competitive by addressing your skills gaps directly.
All ages and abilities are eligible for an Apprenticeship, as well as existing employed staff, opening the door to training for a wider variety of people.
We can help shape your workforce of the future.
An Apprenticeship can take anything from one to two years.
The cost of the qualification is fully funded with no cost to you the employer, however the employer is required to pay the Apprentice a minimum of £95 per week.
If you have an employee in your workplace who you would like to start an Apprenticeship, contact our Business Solutions team and they will arrange for a member of staff to come and see you and advise you on the appropriate scheme for your employee.
Apprenticeships are available at Level 2 and in some cases Advanced Apprenticeships at Level 3 are available.
We can help you recruit the right Apprentice for your business. Contact Business Solutions for more information.
